About us

FRENVI - the name stands for FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT - is a German-Indian greentech start-up based in Mannheim. At FRENVI, we replace conventional plastic cutlery with our edible EATlery® products made from natural raw materials. In addition to edible disposable solutions, we are also actively involved in research and development projects with partner companies from the food and beverage industry in Germany and India. Our R&D projects aim to reduce the amount of waste in the food and beverage industry. Organic waste is recycled for the further development of our tableware solutions. The research team is also working on other recycling routes such as sustainable building materials.

Innovative

We built our first CTC3DF production facility during the Covid pandemic in the Indian metropolis of Bangalore and put it into operation in 2022. CTC3DF stands for "Continuous Thermo Compression 3D Forming", which produces environmentally friendly products such as EATlery® from primary materials. We then came up with the idea of using CTC3DF to recycle secondary materials such as spent grains and rice husks - currently the focus of our research activities. Our innovative and patented manufacturing process makes it possible to produce several million different tableware products per production line. Thanks to the flexibility of the machine, even complex shapes can be easily produced from bio-based materials.

FRENVI's first production plant with a fully automated CTC3DF production line will be built in Wiesloch-Walldorf by mid-2025. From then on, the European market will mainly be supplied with bio-based products that are both edible and naturally compostable. The annual capacity of the German production will be in the mid 9-digit range.

EATlery® - edible cutlery made from natural raw materials

EATlery® is the innovative cutlery that not only accompanies a meal, but is also completely edible. Environmentally friendly, delicious and practical. COMPOSTware - compostable tableware solutions

COMPOSTware tableware solutions made from rice bran and rice flour are fully compostable in the garden within 30 days and are environmentally friendly. They are mainly used at outdoor events, but also in the catering industry and at other events. COMPOSTware is the perfect solution for anyone who wants to use disposable tableware without a guilty conscience. It has been developed for use with hot, cold, solid and semi-liquid food and drinks. It is durable, elegant and biodegradable.

REuse - Stylish reusable tableware

REuse tableware is made from sustainable biocomposites and crop residues, such as coffee and rice husks, from responsible farming. REuse tableware is made from 100% recyclable material and offers a durable and reliable solution for everyday use. It can withstand up to 3,000 washes, perfect for indoor and outdoor use and suitable for hot and cold drinks.
